Background
While the original brief came from another client; Pacific Magazines, the project saw CIS, Pacific Mags and Woolworths working hand in hand through the development stage to ensure the projects success. CIS achieved this by “ticking off” each stakeholders objectives; the unit needed to work with the existing shop fitting structure, it needed to house all magazine shapes and sizes, and manage their display by category to improve shopability and decrease merchandising time to restock and tidy up. Ultimately, the unit needed to increase sales, and test sites indicated that this was certainly happening.
Strategy
The idea was to work with the appeal that magazines create with their ability to visually highlight things of personal interest. By managing the categories well, shoppers are easily lead to their personal preference faster, and supported by the dividers, the area has less clutter from ‘pushed-around’ stock which ultimately means less damage. The magazine area & categories are framed with warm appealing tones and images to enhance the shopping atmosphere.
The Result
The System provides a visually appealing category management structure for the publications on display making it faster to merchandise, easier to manage and easier for shoppers to make their selection. The system answered all of the requirements across all Woolworths outlets, proving to be flexible in its installation.
The system is a great example of our logistics and quality control systems, with 1435 bays delivered to 477 stores to date with nil returns.
Environmentally the main structure of the system is made from 100% recyclable aluminium that will yield a good return at the scrap yard, even after 10 years in-store.
