Background / Brief
Garmin’s brief was to design and develop stylish and premium modular display units that increased sales, brand and product awareness within the marine and boating stores and exhibitions across Australia and NZ. Garmin wanted to set themselves apart from other competitors and position their product as sleek, professional and of the highest quality – the display was to encourage shopper engagement and sales conversion.
Execution
Creative Instore Solutions tackled the creative and technical challenge of designing and manufacturing the Garmin display by creating an attention grabbing unit destined for a visually busy marine retail environment. Through the use of subtle marine elements and strong branding, the unit could securely display the latest Garmin product wired up ready for demonstration. The smart design incorporated cable management LED lighting, retail security, product information acting as a silent sales person and a storage cabinet for stock & display product packaging. The adjustability of the shelving combined with the displays ease of assembly allowed retailers to customise the unit to attract and be relevant for their target market and customer base.
Results
The Garmin units are a great example of simplicity and clean design working together to create an immediate ‘off-location’ and hero product / brand positioning on the shop floor and at exhibitions. The dealerships have seen increased interest and traffic to units on the shop floor – which has contributed to a higher than anticipated Return on Investment (ROI) for Garmin. The display unit stood out as iconic, premium looking and forward thinking in retail locations – ensuring sales from the core target audience and product desirability from others. Having the unit wired up and ready to demonstrate the features of the range, contributed to the higher sales conversion rates for shop floor staff.
